AutoSkin Application

For best results it is important that the application of AutoSKIN to your motor-vehicle be carried out in accordance with the following instructional guidelines.

NOTES

  • Check with AutoSKIN Uses for approved surfaces before applying AutoSKIN
  • AutoSKIN application is a case of "the thicker the better"
  • AutoSKIN is a liquid and may creep into gaps and crevices making removal more time consuming
  • AutoSKIN may adhere to existing, paint touch-ups, deep scratches and decals (stickers)

PREPARATION

  • Ensure surface is clean and dry. For best results wash and wax your motor-vehicle before using AutoSKIN
  • Apply AutoSKIN to a cooled car, in a dry, mild climate out of direct sunlight
  • Shake bottle well
  • Use a foam sponge roller or a paint roller that is clean and dry (or is already soaked with AutoSKIN)

APPLICATION

  • Squeeze AutoSKIN directly onto surface and spread evenly with roller (see fig. 1). For best results start with a large flat surface to enable AutoSKIN to 'work' into the roller.
  • Create a neat edge at border of application by using edge of roller (see fig. 2)
  • If you want to protect over gaps or crevices you must apply several coats and ensure that:

    a:
it is a junction that can be accessed when removing (eg bonnet edge, door edge)
b: the gap or crevice is very tight such as at junctions with hard rubber seals
c: large inaccessible gaps that allows water to flow behind them are avoided, such as located at side guards and bumper features.

COVERAGE

  • As a general rule the thicker the better
  • You may vary the coverage depending on use and time. Thickness varies from a thin coat for light duty, short term use to a thick coat for heavy duty long term use.
  • The following thickness guidelines for each use should be treated as a minimum
Car Bra 0.2-0.4 litres or approx. 75 microns
    4WD 1.0-2.0 litres or approx. 75 - 125 microns
Car Cover 0.8-1.2 litres or approx. 50 - 75 Microns
  • Thickness over air-tight junctions should be a minimum of 100 um up to 150um
TIP: Assess thickness by monitoring litres used against approximate surface area protected and keep within the guidelines set above

CLEAN UP

  • Cleanup with water.

DRYING AND CURING

  • AutoSKIN takes 10mins to 1 hour to dry
  • AutoSKIN dries clear (will turn 'milky' white when soaked with water but will dry clear again)
  • Curing time is 24 hours. For best results all 72 hours

MAXIMUM USE

  • 4 to 6 weeks
  • Warning: Application exposure over 6 weeks can have dirt and grime build up at the edge of the application creating a 'crud line'. This crud line may cause a light, surface scratch to form on your motor-vehicle paintwork if not carefully removed.
